In 2014, the 1st Tennessee, Co. B. formed a small detail to attend “Park Day” at Perryville Battlefield Park. Our project for the day was the removal of a barn on the southern end of the Russell Farm. Judging by the items found inside the barn, it was close to 100 years old (we found items with a 1920 date). All trash had to be removed from inside before the demolition. The barn itself did not like our attempts to fell it, resulting in it not hitting the ground until all supports were removed as well as most of the side slats. The barn’s former location is at the end point of Sunday’s battle, which has been restored to better resemble their appearance in October of 1862.
